Slide Background
Kielder Campsite
Located in the heart of Kielder, Northumberland

Welcome to Kielder Campsite.

A rustic, three star, independent site. Situated in a remote and quiet part of Northumberland. Dark sky friendly with no mobile signal and lots of space to relax. Our site is available to like minded walkers, campers, motorbikes, camper vans, motorhomes and touring caravans.

  • About us

We are a 3 star accredited independently run site. Nestled in the heart of Kielder Forest we are the remotest site in England. We offer pitches for camping, motor home and touring caravans, four pods and two static caravans.
  • Accommodation

We have 25 hardstandings, most can accommodate an awning next to it on a grassed area. A reservoir was put here for a reason, there may be periods of high precipitation when the ground is too soft to accommodate an awning. For this reason we do not allow any vehicles, towing or otherwise to drive or park on the grass.
  • Things to Do

Before contacting us, check out our FAQs to find answers to most of your questions about general enquiries, food on site, dogs on site, fishing, the mobile signal and tent pitches.

Latest Notices

The campsite is currently closed to non booked guests. We are hosting events for the 100 year celebration of Forestry England. We re-open bookings from 10th September.

IMPORTANT TEMPORARY SAFETY NOTICE - NO FIRES OR BARBECUES.

To keep everyone safe and protect our environment, open fires and barbecues of all types are not permitted on the campsite. This is a temporary National and Forestry condition.

We appreciate your help in keeping our site safe. Please note: anyone ignoring this rule will be required to leave the campsite straight away. Thank you.

Midges: Whilst Kielder hosts a good deal of adorable wildlife, be aware that the midge population of Kielder are now fully awake and are in residence. Be prepared!  The campsite and the local shop sell Smidge, fly spray, headnets and citroenella candles. Long trousers, long sleeves when pitching will assist. We recommend arriving in the day, late arrivals will be on their own....apart from a few million midgy friends who will be extremely eager to meet you.

If you have a campervan/motorhome/touring caravan, bringing a plug in fan assists to keep the midges at bay. They cannot fly in a breeze. [Bring two]
Note to all:  ask the weather men nicely for a breeze.

Whilst our facilities are open throughout your stay, we clean the ablutions daily at 11.00am. Please shower before these timings as we close the facilities individually to clean. If you require the toilet whilst cleaning is in progress, please use the disabled/easy access facilities. [Toilet use only, do not use the shower]

THE KIELDER TAVERN IS CURRENTLY CLOSED MONDAY - THURSDAY.  OPENING FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. THEY ARE UNABLE TO OFFER FOOD. This establishment is a privately run pub with no links to the campsite. We cannot inform guests on any updates until they happen or we are given bona fide updates.

Some of our local wildlife pictured can prowl and pilfer at night, we strongly advise guests not to leave certain items outside overnight. particularly food, shoes and bags. [No need to remove large non edible items such as chairs.....to date we know that the badger set or foxes lair can't get furniture inside]  We'll update should planning permission be sought.
