Hardstand: Motorhome or Touring Caravan

We have 25 hardstandings, most can accommodate an awning next to it on a grassed area. A reservoir was put here for a reason, there may be periods of high precipitation when the ground is too soft to accommodate an awning. For this reason we do not allow any vehicles, towing or otherwise to drive or park on the grass.

Electric Hook up

All of our pitches have electric hook up at 10 amps. If you do not require electric hook up, inform the site via e-mail and we reimburse you the electric hook up fee back onto your card. This has been very successful so far.

Pitch allocation

We usually allow visitors the opportunity to select their own pitch on arrival.* We cannot guarantee any prior reservation requests, however, we do our best to accommodate such requests.

*During busy times or late night arrivals, staff may need to allocate pitches to suit current conditions.

Multiple pitches

As above, we cannot guarantee, but do our best to ensure you are close or next to each other.

Bridge weight limit

To access the hose for topping up water vehicles will need to drive across our bailey bridge. Be aware this has a 5 tonne maximum load. [View the site map if unsure of it's location or impact to your visit]

There is a long hose set up next to the ablutions. Do not move the bollards or cones as this protects the mains water and sewage pipes just beyond from heavy vehicles.
There are two water points amongst the hardstandings. These are for topping up caravan water barrels or other water containers.

Grey water disposal

We have only one point, near the ablutions. It is not a drive over and release point, it requires decanting with a bucket or your own hose attachment.

Effluent/cassette toilet disposal

We have a chemical disposal point to empty any effluent. There is hand wash and running water to assist.

Trailer tents/rooftop tents/folding camper

We recommend hardstanding option for such accommodation, select the hardstand with electric. If you do not require electric, refer to the Electric Hook up info above.

Tent Pitches

This section should cover most aspects of pitching and camping in a tent at Kielder campsite.

Northumberland's damp conditions......

we offer this advice for the coming months.

We are currently in the less than dry season. It could be dry today, it could be wet, but mostly it will be wet. Don't go looking at your phone urging clear skies and dry weather, it's Kielder, wet's what we do! Our advice is to expect the rain and a drop in temperature and to plan, plan again and then plan some more. Just to reiterate: it tends to be wet and cold this time of not book if you are made of sugar. A sacrificial tarp or footprint put under the tent helps alot. This site has seen many tents faring less than well after a good Kielder downpour. Should you be in any doubt with regards your tents waterproofing, put a tarp over the top too. Bring suitable footwear, waterproof leggings and a top; think about bringing a brolly.  A good quantity of spare warm clothing...we have no drying room on site.  Towels are handy too, more than one and bigger than a tea-towel.  Failure to respect the soft ground, rainfall and the cooler climes of Kielder may have a detrimental effect to your visit.

The information above has been driven by customer requests during their visits.

Tent pitch size

There are no formal tent pitches, we offer a longitudinal field that has a track running through it. You select an area that suits you or that conditions allow.

Static Caravans

We have two static caravans for hire. Both are TWO BEDROOMED. We require a minimum stay of two nights. However, during July and August we require a 5 night minimum stay. Please note our caravans are pet free.

Both of our caravan's have two bedrooms. One double, one twin.

Save time... hop into a pod!

The site has four pods. They are very popular and require forward planning to secure a booking.

If you try to book and a pod does not appear on our booking list it means it is fully booked for the date or one of the days selected.

Our Pods cost £40.00 per pod, per night and can comfortably sleep up to three adults or two adults with two children.. During Bank Holidays there is a minimum stay of 3 nights.
